“I said to my soul, be still, and wait…So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing. ”
T.S. Eliot

I am a crazy patient photographer. It is who I am. When photographing children, I wait to see how things unfold. I let them run, walk, explore and for the most part, wait for moments. In most cases, however, it helps when they stay still…even for just a moment. There are lots of tricks to keep small ones still. A chair, small toy or stick to hold, or my favorite, a really special spot for them to be standing in. Have a visual. It can be anything. A garden hose wrapped in a circle for them to stand in, or in this case, a shape drawn from chalk. Outside of the shape,  “hot lava.” A child gets this, and they know where they need to be. Use stars, hearts, circles, let them draw it themselves. It really works. Give is a whirl. xoxoJen
